Let's Work Out What Is Actually Going On

Most people arrive here with a symptom rather than a diagnosis: traffic that has fallen, rankings that will not move, a redesign that went wrong, an agency relationship that is not producing, or a general sense that the money is not turning into anything.

The fastest way through that is a conversation. Thirty minutes, your numbers, direct answers. If I think the problem is outside what I do, or that you do not need to hire anyone at all, I will tell you that instead.

How to Reach Me

Book a call

The most useful option. Thirty minutes, focused on your situation rather than my services. Use the button below and pick a time that works.

Email

Write to ramshukla@ramkrshukla.com with a short description of the situation and any numbers you can share. I read and answer these myself.

Start with an audit

If you already know the site has problems and want them identified and prioritised before any conversation about ongoing work, begin with an SEO audit instead.

Working with a team already

If you have an in-house team or an agency and want an independent read on whether the programme is working, say so when you get in touch. That is a common and perfectly comfortable arrangement.

I answer enquiries personally rather than routing them to an account manager, so a reply may take a day or two but it will be from the person who would actually do the work.

The First Call

What Actually Happens

01
You describe the situation
What is happening, what changed, what you have already tried, and what the numbers look like. There is no format to prepare and no need to make it sound tidy.
02
I ask the awkward questions
Usually about measurement, about what was changed and when, and about who owns what internally. A surprising share of problems are diagnosed in this part of the conversation alone.
03
You get an honest read
What I think is actually happening, what I would look at first, and how confident I am. Where I am guessing, I will say I am guessing rather than dressing it up.
04
We decide whether there is a next step
Sometimes that is a diagnostic, sometimes a defined project, sometimes a suggestion to fix something internally and talk again in three months. Sometimes it is that you do not need me, which is a legitimate outcome and not a wasted call.
Who I Work With

The Problems I Am Usually Called For

Sites that have lost visibility

After a redesign, a migration, an algorithm update, or gradually with no obvious cause. See redesign recovery and why rankings drop.

Large sites that have plateaued

Enormous keyword footprints producing very little traffic, usually a structural problem rather than a content one. See enterprise SEO and the position 11 to 100 trap.

Businesses unsure whether their marketing works

Where the reporting cannot answer the question and nobody senior enough is looking at it. Often becomes an audit or a fractional leadership arrangement.

Companies entering a new category or market

Where the question is what the opportunity actually is before committing budget. See the sectors I work in and how consulting engagements run.

Teams that need senior direction

Capable people executing without anyone experienced setting the sequence. Frequently the highest-return version of this work.

Businesses worried about AI search

Wanting to know whether they appear in generated answers and what to do about it. See AI SEO and generative engine optimisation.

Common Questions

Before You Get In Touch

What happens on the first call?

Thirty minutes, no pitch deck. You describe the situation and the numbers, I ask questions, and I tell you what I think is actually going on and what I would do about it. You leave with at least two things worth acting on whether or not we work together. If I do not think I am the right person for the problem, I will say so on that call.

What do you need from me before we talk?

Nothing formal. It helps if you can share access to your analytics and Search Console beforehand, because then the call is about your actual data rather than about generalities. If that is not possible, bring whatever numbers you have and we will work from those.

Do you work with agencies as well as brands?

Yes. A reasonable share of my work is alongside an in-house team or an existing agency, either providing the senior direction they are missing or acting as an independent read on whether the current programme is working. Nobody is being replaced by default.

What size of business do you work with?

Everything from a single-location practice to enterprise sites with hundreds of thousands of pages. The problems differ enormously but the diagnostic method does not. What matters more than size is whether someone internally can act on the recommendations.

How do engagements usually work?

Most start with a diagnostic, because acting before knowing what is wrong wastes money. After that it is either a defined project, ongoing consulting alongside your team, or a fractional leadership arrangement. I will recommend the smallest version that solves the problem.

What if I am not sure what I need?

That is the normal starting point and it is a good reason to have the call rather than a reason to postpone it. Working out what the actual problem is tends to be the most valuable part of the first conversation.

You may also want more background on how I work, the full list of services, selected work, or the writing, which is the most honest sample of how I think about this.

Ready when you are

Thirty minutes, your numbers, a direct answer. If I am not the right person for the problem I will tell you on the call and point you at who is.
